About the recipe

Morgadinhos de amêndoa belong to the Algarve sweet tradition, rich in almonds and eggs.

They are small, delicate and festive, ideal as edible gifts or for a dessert table.

Ingredients

  • 300 g of ground almonds
  • 250 g of sugar
  • 100 ml of water
  • Doce de ovos (egg-yolk cream) or fios de ovos
  • Powdered sugar
  • Cinnamon (optional)

Method

  1. Prepare an almond paste with the sugar syrup.
  2. Let it cool until you can shape it.
  3. Flatten small portions.
  4. Fill with doce de ovos (egg-yolk cream) or fios de ovos (fine egg threads).
  5. Enclose the filling and shape the sweets.
  6. Sprinkle with icing sugar.
