About the recipe

Carapaus alimados are a simple and very tasty Algarve dish, served cold or at room temperature.

After being boiled and cleaned, the fish are dressed with olive oil, garlic, and vinegar, gaining freshness.

Ingredients

  • 8 small mackerels
  • 3 sliced garlic cloves
  • 80 ml of olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons of vinegar
  • Parsley or coriander
  • Coarse salt
  • Pepper
  • Boiled potatoes to serve

Preparation method

  1. Cook the mackerels in salted water.
  2. Let cool slightly and remove skin and main bones.
  3. Arrange the fish on a platter.
  4. Season with garlic, olive oil, vinegar, and pepper.
  5. Let rest.
  6. Serve with boiled potatoes.
