Morgado do Algarve belongs to the almond confectionery of southern Portugal.
It is a celebration sweet, with almond dough and filling of egg threads or egg sweet.
Ingredients
- 350 g of ground almonds
- 300 g of sugar
- 150 ml of water
- 8 egg yolks
- Egg threads or egg sweet
- Cinnamon optional
- Sugar for dusting
Preparation Method
- Prepare almond dough with sugar syrup.
- Cook egg yolks with syrup to form egg sweet.
- Roll out part of the dough in a small mold.
- Fill with egg sweet or egg threads.
- Cover with more almond dough.
- Place in a low oven just to firm up.
