About the Recipe

Grilled sea bass showcases the strength of simplicity in Portuguese fish cooking.

When the fish is good, just salt, the right heat, olive oil, and lemon are enough for an elegant meal.

Ingredients

  • 4 pieces or fillets of sea bass
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 60 ml of olive oil
  • 2 crushed garlic cloves
  • Chopped parsley
  • Coarse salt or fine salt
  • Black pepper
  • Potatoes or vegetables for side

Preparation Method

  1. Season the sea bass with salt, pepper, garlic, and lemon.
  2. Heat the grill or heavy skillet.
  3. Grill the fish until golden on one side.
  4. Carefully flip and finish cooking.
  5. Mix olive oil, lemon, and parsley to drizzle.
  6. Serve immediately.

Tips from Empório Portugal

  • Fish should be dry before going on the grill.
  • Avoid moving too much to prevent breaking.
  • Olive oil is for finishing, it doesn't need to cook.

Possible Substitutions in Brazil

  • Use yellow hake, firm tilapia, or monkfish.
  • Parsley can be replaced with cilantro.

Pairing

Light white wine or sparkling water with lemon. Content intended for those over 18. Drink responsibly.
