About the Recipe

Pumpkin Dreams are sweet Christmas fritters, soft on the inside and golden on the outside.

The pumpkin adds color, moisture, and a mild flavor, creating a light and festive dough.

Ingredients

  • 500 g of cooked and mashed pumpkin
  • 250 g of flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 80 g of sugar
  • Orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • Oil for frying
  • Sugar and cinnamon

Preparation Method

  1. Cook and thoroughly mash the pumpkin.
  2. Mix pumpkin, eggs, sugar, and zest.
  3. Add flour and baking powder.
  4. Heat oil in a deep pan.
  5. Fry spoonfuls until golden.
  6. Coat in sugar with cinnamon.

Tips from Empório Portugal

  • The pumpkin needs to be well dried.
  • Too soft dough absorbs oil.
  • Fry a few at a time.

Possible Substitutions in Brazil

  • Cabotiá pumpkin works very well.
