Folar de Olhão is an Algarve Easter sweet, rich in layers and aromatic syrup.
Unlike drier folares, it remains moist, shiny, and very fragrant with cinnamon.
Ingredients
- 600 g of flour
- 10 g of dry yeast
- 250 ml of warm milk
- 2 eggs
- 80 g of butter
- Brown sugar
- Cinnamon
- Honey or syrup optional
- 1 pinch of salt
Preparation method
- Prepare the fermented dough with flour, milk, eggs, butter, yeast, and salt.
- Let it rise until doubled.
- Roll portions of dough into discs.
- Layer with sugar, cinnamon, and butter.
- Let it rest in the pan.
- Bake until golden and moist.
