About the Recipe

Sautéed greens are a direct side dish, with a vegetable flavor and garlic aroma.

They appear alongside cod, alheira, roasted meats, and oven dishes.

Ingredients

  • 1 bunch of greens or kale
  • 3 sliced garlic cloves
  • 50 ml of olive oil
  • Salt and pepper
  • Optional lemon juice

Preparation Method

  1. Wash and cut the greens.
  2. Blanch quickly in hot water if they are very firm.
  3. Heat olive oil and lightly brown the garlic.
  4. Add the greens and sauté.
  5. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Finish with lemon if desired.

Tips from Empório Portugal

  • Do not overcook to preserve texture.
  • Garlic should flavor, not burn.
  • Serve immediately.

Possible Substitutions in Brazil

  • Kale cut thick can replace greens.
  • Escarole also works.

Pairing

Goes well with alheira, cod, and meats. If there is wine, light white or red. Content intended for those over 18 years old. Drink in moderation.
